Bitcoin Miner Sales Slump to Three Year Lows as Capitulation Risks Fade – What Does This Mean For The BTC Price

Image
According to data cited by Bitfinex analysts earlier this week, Bitcoin miners are slowing the pace at which they sell the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Bitfinex, citing on-chain data from crypto analytics platform Glassnode, said that BTC flows from miner wallets to exchanges, said “selling is at a three-year low”. “It is a potential indication that miners are now either already transitioned or in the process of transitioning to a source of buying pressure,” the analysts continued, before adding that miners might be “hodling their bitcoin because they anticipate further (price) rises”. When Bitcoin miners move their BTC to exchanges, it is generally assumed they are doing this in order to sell them eventually. So lower Miner to Exchange flows can be viewed as a proxy for lower Bitcoin miner BTC sales. Bitcoin miners are tasked with providing the computing oomph to power Bitcoin’s decentralize...

Crypto Assets Under Management Surge 36.7% in January as Markets Recover, But Grayscale Situation Remains “Delicate”

Image
Total assets under management (AUM) for digital asset investment products surged a whopping 36.8% to $19.7 billion in January, its highest level since May 2022, CryptoCompare said in its latest monthly Digital Asset Management review report. According to the crypto intelligence firm, “bullish sentiment was driven by liquidated short positions and a favorable macro environment, reflected in the most recent CPI announcement, which saw Bitcoin's price reach $23,000; its highest level since August 2022”. However, CryptoCompare noted that AUM is still 38.7% below its level in January 2022 “due to a difficult year for Bitcoin, the wider cryptocurrency market, and traditional assets”. It is widely agreed amongst analysts that the main trigger of 2022’s risk asset and crypto bear markets was a surprisingly aggressive hawkish shift in the policy stance of the US Federal Reserve and other major central banks in order to clamp down on a stronger-th...

The claim was made by Yuya Hasegawa, a market analyst at the Japanese crypto exchange bitbank, and reported by the Japanese media outlet CoinPost. Hasegawa noted that “fortunately” for crypto holders, the market has not collapsed “significantly” – despite recent pressures. But, Hasegawa pointed out, if prices “fail to hold at the $17,000 level, selling may accelerate in the short term.”   Three-month trading volumes at bitFlyer, Japan’s market-leading crypto exchange. (Source: CoinGecko) The analyst pointed out that monetary policy-related moves in Europe and particularly the United States have had a direct effect on crypto prices. Hasegawa added that BTC markets have shifted downward as an apparent direct response to risi...
